A Lesson in Meditation

Meditation is the practice of focusing attention or awareness on a specific point, such as the breath or a mantra, to disengage from distracting thoughts and ruminations. Although an integral part of many spiritual traditions, meditation is also practiced widely for general wellness or holistic health. Among the many benefits of a consistent practice are improved focus, reduced anxiety, better sleep, and greater ease with difficult emotions. Today, we will learn about one approach to meditation. We will then have the opportunity to participate in a short meditation session.
